Cher at the Colosseum

Cher and Cher Alike, In a Town of Impersonators Here’s the Real Deal.
review by king lizzard
It’s about time we post something new here, it’s been a busy winter.
Wednesday night I had to suspend my gender preference for 90 minutes and attended the Cher show at the Colisseum at Caesar’s Palace. Before I get more in depth, let me say that I recognize and acknowledge the fact that she’s a legend
and a fuckin’ Oscar winner (this plays into the show).
However, John Lennon’s Plastic Ono Band confirms that just because you’re a legend doesn’t mean you can’t suck.
That being said, let’s get into it, shall we?
Now this was the venue that was originally built for Celine Dion, and is now home to Cher, Bette Midler and Elton John (review coming of him soon).
When you enter the Colisseum you’re greeted by a large screen showing fanning stars and a New Age “floaty” music on an endless loop. This was cool, but before a rock/pop concert do you really want your audience all mellowed out and spacey?
And true to form, the show that was supposed to begin at 7:30 wound up closer to 8:00, although I must say that every seat in the house was packed for a Wednesday night (yes, I got in for free, like always).
The planetarium stops, a disco beat pounds through the venue as images of Cher are now projected onto the screen. Read the rest of this entry »
