Ronnie James Dio succumbed to stomach cancer at age 67 on May 16, 2010, in Houston Texas.
Perhaps one of the greatest metal singers, he fronted Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, Elf and Heaven and Hell. His further contributions to the legacy of metal include being the originator of the devil horns salute.

Yes, yes, yes, we all know that Michael Jackson is dead at 50. It’s kind of hard not to notice, unless you’ve been living on fucking venus or something. But here’s some interesting facts. One of the most shocking is the coroner’s report which stated that MJ weighed 112 pounds (at 5’10:), was bald , covered with needle marks, had no nose and was missing many teeth. His body looked like an actual skeleton and nothing like the man millions had come to know, love and despise. Was MJ really a pedophile or , in his mind, was he still 10-years-old and thought his sleepovers and playing doctor were innocent? I think no one will know. Will he be cast to hell or heaven (if they exist)? I think that there are scales of justice, and if the good he’s done in his life outweight the evil then he’ll find a place in heaven. If he’s done more evil, then, well, you know. Read the rest of this entry »

Review by King Lizzard
Now, mind you, I’ve been around the block more times than I care to mention. I am as jaded of an old prick as one can get. I’m meaner than a junkyard dog and twice as ugly. In the past 35-years I have seen KISS Destroyer and Love Gun tours, Alice Cooper three times, ELO, Elton John, Pink Floyd Animals tour, Queen and just about every big ass arena/stadium rock band in existence in that past time. I’ve also seen enough of the Cirque shows in Vegas, Blue Man Group and other Vegas Strip major shows.
Last night I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and for the first time in my life I had my ass kicked non-stop for three hours and have to say, unequivocally, that this is the best fucking rock concert on the planet. That is, of course, unless you hate hard rock music and classical music, or are an imbecile.
The show was concocted in 1996 by members of the metal band SAVATAGE and has been touring since
1999. TSO consists of a 16-piece band (including string section), 20-vocalists and various lead vocalists. The show is divided into two parts, the Christmas themed part and when that’s finished, they kick into high gear with classics.
The Christmas theme was sweet, with catchy hyped-up Christmas carols and blues and jazz inspired originals wrapped around the concept of an angel flying across the world on Christmas Eve and a father getting his lost child back. The story was told by a storyteller who introduced the separate acts. Some of the acts were a little long and low key, but the vocalists and musicians were virtuoso caliber. Breathe a sigh of relief, Christopher Cross. Newly soberish Amy Winehouse was Hancock-blocked (sorry) from sweeping the big four categories at tonight’s Grammys when Herbie inexplicably picked up Best Album honors. Wino did have a huge night via satellite, though: five awards in all.
We’re shocked too!
Kanye and Bruce each took home an armful as well. And if you read the fine print, you saw Bright Eyes and Flight Of The Conchords were honored with statues pre-show. Barack Obama won Best Spoken Word Album for the second time. After the jump, check out all the winners you might be curious about (i.e., we left out country, classical, and Best Hawaiian … you can find those at grammy.com).

King Lizzard’s granddaughter, Miranda, recently had a birthday. To promote her interest in music, King bought her a pink Stratocaster. She’s showing quite an aptitude for playing and King hopes that she will follow in the footsteps of her grandaddy Lizzard and be a kick-ass rock and roll chick…and not follow in the footsteps of great-grandpappy Lizzard and go into country.
King says, “She even has a cool name that lends itself to rock and punk…Randa Gunn!” So the King, by the power of being…well, the king… has officially named her the Princess Royal of the Lizzard Dynasty, first heir to the title of Queen Lizzard.
